Fibre
Quinoa is a high-fibre seed, though it is often cooked and prepared as a grain. Despite its tiny size, it has an even higher fibre profile than brown and white rice! One cup of quinoa contains roughly 2g more than a standard cup of oats. For a 40g serving of our Granola, you are already off to a great start in your day compared to contemporary breakfast options.
Gluten
Quinoa is classified as a pseudo-cereal because it is prepared like a cereal or grain but isn't classified as one, so it is naturally gluten free. Despite this, our kitchen is small and cross contamination is a risk for coeliacs who may want to try our product. For those intolerant, our granola is a great gluten-free breakfast option.
Protein
Did you know quinoa contains all nine of the essential amino acids and nutrients that the body needs and cannot produce on its own? At 4.44g per serving, along with the high fibre content, protein and amino acids are essential for maintenance of muscle mass, healthy skin, nails and hair, and most importantly keeping you feeling well!
Sugar
Our granola is not as sweet as your typical artificially sweetened supermarket option, we don't add any sugar and the quinoa provides more of a nutty flavour rather than the creamy and sometimes stodgy flavour of oat. Instead of sugar, we use erythritol which is a non-GMO, vegan and gluten-free sweetener, great for those looking to avoid sugar or want a fruity breakfast option that won't spike your blood sugar the same way a supermarket cereal would. Our granola is a great choice!
Carbohydrates
Our granola contains 18.22g of carbohydrates per 40g serving, keeping you full and allowing you to power through your morning. Our granola is slow energy releasing and helps keep you full for longer - possibly aiding in weight management and keeping cravings at bay!
Vitamins and Minerals
Quinoa is a nutrient dense grain that is especially high in zinc, magnesium, iron and folate, minerals the gluten-free diet often lack from most refined gluten free substitutes. We rinse and soak the quinoa before baking it to conserve its nutrients and reducing the anti-nutrient content. Research even shows quinoa to be anti-inflammatory and great for your gut!
